Josh the Receptionist

Yesterday, Wednesday that 2nd, I spent the day manning the phones and front desk at CLA. The receptionist was sick, so it was up to me to field phone calls from parents, let people into the school, and make announcements on the PA system. I tried my best to look official, sitting at her desk, but whenever someone came into the school seeking help, my 'official receptionist' self made way for a bumbling 17 year old who had no idea how to help these people. But luckily it was all ok, as I made my way through the day without any real blunders. I also filed some paperwork and continued to organize phone lists and update email addresses to prepare for upcoming recruitment efforts (if you know anyone who will be in 6th or 7th grade next fall, let me know). I also continued to help out with the distribution of breakfast and lunch to the students, doing all I could to help the teachers control the insanely loud madhouse that is the cafeteria. I continue to learn all sorts of middle school drama, some of the kids are even confiding in me. I honestly have no idea what to say sometimes, so I just nod my head and to sound sympathetic to their little problems. All in all, its been a great few days at CLA and I look forward to continuing to work with such interesting people.
