Field Trip

Yesterday, the students and faculty of Citizens Leadership Academy ventured down the road to visit Case Western Reserve University for lunch. This was the second of such trips this year, with the CWRU staff inviting the students to an incredible lunch in one of Case's dining halls. As you can imagine, the students were very excited to go on a field trip, especially if there was a good lunch in store. Although, I imagine that most anything these children eat is better than the lunches they force down every day. Some Case staff members met us at the dining hall, warmly greeting the students and promising a surprise at the end of the lunch. As soon as we entered the cafeteria, the 6th graders' faces lit up and their eyes grew wide. Even though they had previously been to Case for lunch in the fall, they still couldn't quite fathom the quantity of fresh food staring them in the faces. As you can imagine, the students had an incredible lunch as they were whisked around from food station to station by the cafeteria staff. As promised, there was a surprise at the end - a sundae bar that sent the students into a frenzy. They inhaled scoops upon scoops of ice cream covered in chocolate sauce and numerous toppings. However, as a result, the students returned to school in a food stupor, walking around with their hands on their stomachs and big smiles on their faces.
